Self-Publishing on the Internet

There are many technical tasks which a writer must perform to self-publish on the Web. Publishing of full books in electronic format over the Internet has been poised to take off for some years now, but a lack of standardization of formats has delayed its acceptance by the general public. Self-publishing, as a subset of this, has also not yet fulfilled its promise.
