Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of COX-2 and nm23 in Gastric carcinnoma and clinical significance. Methods :Expression of COX-2 and nm23 were examined with immnunohistochemical technique for specimens from 52 cases of gastric carcinoma and for sourrounding normal tissue from 20 cases. And counte the number of positive cells under a microscope. Statistic and compare the positive expression rate of COX-2 and nm23 in gastric cancer tissues and normal tissues. Results:The positivity rate of COX-2 expression was significantly higher in gastric carcinoma than that in the normal tissue (67.3% vs 5.0% , P 0.01). The positive rate of nm23 expression also was significantly higher in gastric carcinoma than that in the normal tissue (30.7% vs 75.0%, P0.01). The abnormal expression rate of COX-2 was correlated with the differentiation of tumor cells, TMN staging and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). The expression of nm23 was correlated with lymph node metastasis and TMN staging (P0.05), but not with the differentiation of tumor cells (P0.05). Conclusion:The expression of COX-2 and nm23 are closely correlated with the clinicopathologic features of gastric carcinoma. The expression of COX-2 and nm23 is a biological indicators for predictor poor prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
