Abstract
In order to assess the association of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium with the interveinal chlorosis followed by necrosis of the leaves of Anab-e-shahi grape in Hyderabad, leaf samples from five chlorotic vineyards and five normal vineyards were analysed. Chlorotic leaves had significantly less nitrogen, slightly more phosphorus, more potassium, less calcium and significantly less magnesium than the healthy leaves. The ratios of calcium to magnesium was significantly more in the chlorotic leaves, whereas, the ratios of potassium to magnesium, potassium to calcium plus magnesium did not differ significantly between the chlorotic and healthy leaves. Thus the chlorosis is not an induced one by the high potassium level, but appears to be due to the deficiency of mainly magnesium and nitrogen and partly of calcium. Further studies to confirm the deficiency are needed.
