Abstract

Persistence behaviour of fipronil in chilli following application of Regent 5% SC (commercial formulation) @ 50 and 100 g a.i.ha−1 at fruiting stage is reported. The average initial deposits of total fipronil (fipronil and its metabolites) were 0.409 and 0.808 mg kg−1 for single and double doses, respectively. Desulfinyl was the main metabolite followed by sulfone and sulfide. Half-live for total fipronil were found to be 3.50 and 3.53 days at single and double doses, respectively. A waiting period of 7 days for single and 10 days for double doses has been suggested for safe consumption of chilli.
