Abstract
Juvenile growth performance of Kuroiler birds was evaluated under intensive system of management during winter season 2013 in Kashmir valley. The mean body weight at 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th week of age was 103.87 ± 0.87, 324.17 ± 6.80, 756.67 ± 6.51 and 1339.53 ± 18.88 g, respectively, and mean Feed Conversion Ratio during 1–3, 3–5, 5–7 and 1–7 weeks age was 2.17 ± 0.07, 2.47 ± 0.03, 2.43 ± 0.02 and 2.19 ± 0.02, respectively. The net return of Rs 11.68 per kg live weight and Rs 15.64 per bird was obtained. It was, therefore, inferred that under intensive system of management, Kruoiler birds performed reasonably well suggesting its adaptability under temperate Kashmir conditions so paves way for its rearing under backyard conditions.
