Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) seasons of 1996 and 1997 at Salooni, to study the response of 2 varieties of Frenchbean or rajmash (Phaseolus sadiatus L.) to phosphorus and FYM application under rainfed condition. Among the varieties, ‘Jawala’ recorded the highest number of pods/plant, seeds/pod, 1,000-seed weight and harvest index, which in turn reflected in higher grain and straw yields. Application of 50 kg P2O5 with 10 tonnes of FYM/ha resulted in the maximum plant height, pods/plant, seeds/pod and 1,000-seed weight and thereby higher yields.
