Abstract
In a discussion on the development of and prospects for demand-responsive transportation, the panelists called for a cost-benefit justification of dial-a-ride and a state-of-the-art analysis of integrated system in order to determine cross subsidization and trade-offs in productivity of fixed-route and dial-a-ride systems. Consideration is also given to management and marketing techniques, labor problems, attitude of consultants, and funding. The necessity for complete integration of systems, expertise in dial-a-ride implementation and information dissemination methods is discussed.
