Abstract
During 1993–94, neem seed kernel extract (NSKE) 6% was evaluated in different combinations with Heliothis nucler polyhedrosis virus (HNPV) 500 LE/ha in the field against the bollworms infesting cotton var. AHH-468. A combination of NSKE 6% with HNPV 500 LE/ha showed the minimum bollworm infestation i.e., 15.70 and 9.36 pper cent in green fruiting bodies 7 and 14 days after spraying, respectively. Also, this treatment revealed the lowest bollworm infestation in open bolls (18.48%), pink bollworm damage in locuii (12.85%), and bad seed cotton (10.25%). The plots treated with this combination gave the highest yield 14.59 q/ha as compared to 8.24 q/ha in control. The effectiveness of various treatments in descending order was: NSKE 6% + HNPV 500 LE/ha, 112 dose of NSKE (3%) + HNPV 500 LE/ha, NSKE 6% + 112 dose of HNPV (250 LE/ha), 112 dose of NSKE (3%) + 112 dose of HNPV (250 LE/ha), HNPV 500 LE/ha, NSKE 6%, and control.
