Abstract
In 1999, the City of Calabasas traffic and Transportation Department completed construction of Phase I of the Citywide neighborhood traffic Calming Program. The program resulted in the installation of numerous roundabouts, center medians, and speed humps in residential neighborhoods. Throughout this process, the Calabasas Traffic and Transportation Department has learned valuable lessons. Much of the traffic program entailed details which were ultimately successful. Many of the traffic devices installed proved to be extremely well suited not only for calming traffic, but assuaging the communities concerns. Education and planning utilized methods which other agencies can learn from.
