AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG WORDS FOUND IN NICK CASSAVETES ALPHA DOG

The thesis entitled An Analysis of Slang Words Found in Nick Cassavete’s Alpha Dog has two objectives. to find slang language by Alpha Dog script. The second is to find the characteristic of slang language. The study attempts to analyze and indentify the slangs used in Alpha Dog movie. Slang language had been used by the characters in movie in Alpha Dog movie.Slang is nonstandard vocabulary composed of words or senses which is characterized primarily by connotations of extreme informality and usually by a currency not limited to a particular region. Slang language is not an official language or it is an informal language, although it is widely used for oral communication in many purposes, as many words quickly become outdated and obsolete because of trends. We need a language in order to communicate with other people in our society. There are two kinds of English; they are formal language and informal language. Slang, itself, often occurs in informal language. The researcher uses qualitative research method because this study describes the characteristics of Alpha Dog Movie.
