Evaluation of Some Biorational Pesticides for the Management of Shoot and Fruit Borer of Brinjal and Okra

Abstract

The biorational insecticide spinetoram 50 g a.i. ha−1 has been found superior over other treatments against Leucinodes orbonalis Guen. and Earias vitella (Fab.), the key pests of brinjal and okra, respectively. It recorded lowest shoot (8.03%) and 14.45% fruit infestation in brinjal, and 4.01% mean shoot and fruit infestation in okra. The next effective treatment was emamectin benzoate @ 18 g a.i. ha−1 (8.63% shoot and 15.73% fruit infestation in brinjal and 5.61% mean shoot and fruit infestation in okra) followed by spinosad @ 75 g a.i. ha−1 (9.39, 16.21 and 5.87%), chlorfenapyr @ 125 g a.i. ha−1 (10.55, 17.40 and 7.42%), Bacillus thuringiensis (14.34, 20.86 and 9.47%) and azadirachtin (15.70, 22.46 and 10.68%). Spinetoram treatment also recorded the highest marketable fruit yield of 145.50 and 71.45 q ha−1 in brinjal and okra, respectively.
