Abstract

Malcolm Turbull's leadership of the Liberal Party is discussed. It is argued that Turnbull is the most liberal Liberal leader for some time. He is different from John Howard, a self-styled conservative and more liberal than Brendan Nelson or Peter Costello. Turnbull must retain the aura of a winner or his liberalism will become a liability and he risks losing the support of his party colleagues.
