Abstract

he object of the research is the Weezer’s song lyrics. The study focuses on the sociological aspect of the Weezer’s song lyrics. The major problem of the research is how love is reflected in Weezer’s song lyrics based on sociological approach. This approach is aimed at analyzing love reflected in the song lyrics. This research is qualitative research. The primary data source is the Weezer’s song lyrics and the secondary data sources are other sources related to the analysis like theory of sociology of literature by Laurenson and Swingewood. The method of data collection is documentation research. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis, by selecting the data then classifying them according to the type of love. The result of the study reveals the relationship between the Weezer’s song lyrics and social reality in America. In the song lyrics, The Weezer’s song lyrics depict an issue and elucidation on how the love phenomena in society can be reflected in song lyrics by classifying the lyrics according to its type.
