Abstract
Antifeedant activity of each of Artemisia nilagarica (Clarke) Pamp and Juglans regia (Linn.) Var. Kumaonica (DC.) leaf oils against Spilosoma obliqua (Walk.) and Spodoptera litura (Fab.) larvae was observed as dose dependent for both insects. A. nilagarica had more feeding deterrence than J. regia Var. Kumaonica. Considerable feeding inhibition (80.21% and 70.21%) was recorded on 3rd instar larvae of S. obliqua as adminstered with 0.4% concentration of A. nilagarica (EC50 = 0.080%) and J. regia Var Kumaonica (EC5() = 0.150%) oils, respectively. While 0.3% extract of A. nilagarica (EC5() = 0.042%) and J. regia Var. Kumaonica (EC50 = 0.10%) registered feeding deterrence on 5th instar larvae of S. litura by 83.76% and 63.12%, respectively.
