Abstract

With factor analysis,14 phenotypic traits of 96 accessions from 5 cultivated Capsicum species were simplified to 5 independent traits groups controlled by 5 main factors. The first factor was to control fruit weight, the second was to control plant model, the third was to control fruit shape, the forth was to control maturity, and the fifth was to control piquancy. The accumulative contribution of the 5 major factors to total variation was more than 80 %,and maintained most information of 14 phenotypic traits. The orthogonal and oblique factor load matrices were analyzed for the genetic correlation of phenotypic traits and the 5 major factors.
