Studies on the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield attributes of radish (Raphanussativus L.)

Abstract

An experiment entitled Studies on the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield attributes of radish (Raphanussativus L.) was conducted during rabi season of 2013–14. The experiment was carried out in the field of the Department of Horticulture, Janta College, Bakewar, Etawah (U.P.). Bakewar is situated 23 km. east from Etawah on National Highway-2. It is located at 26–28° north latitude and 78–80° east longitude and falls under subtropical climate zone. It has an altitude of 149.5 meters above mean sea level. The average rainfall varies from 80–100 cm lannum and major part of rainfall is received between later part of June and August. The layout of experimental field was laid down in Randomized Block Design with 9 treatments. These treatments randomized in three replications with total number of 27 plots. These treatments are T1_ Control, T2_ FYM (20t/ha), T3-FYM + Azotobacter + Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (10t/ha) + (5kg/ha) + (5kg/ha), T4-FYM + Azotobacter (10t/ha) + (5kg/ha), T5_ NPK (80:60:60 kg/ha), T6_NPK + FYM (80:60:60 kg/ha + 10t/ha), T7_NPK + FYM + Azotobacter (80:60:60 kg/ha) + (10t/ha) + (5kg/ha), T8_NPK + FYM + PSB (80:60:60 kg/ha) + (10t/ha) + (5kg/ha), T9_NPK + FYM + Azotobacter +PSB (80:60:60 kg/ha) + (10t/ha) + (5kg/ha)+ (5kg/ha) with NPK-75%, FYM, Azotobacter and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria. The combination of inorganic, organic and bio-fertilizer had given good results. It attributed to the increase in the height of plant, number of leaves, length of leaves, leaves size, fresh weight of leaves, length of root, and diameter/thickness of main root, leaf: root length ratio, leaf: root weight ratio, fresh weight of root, and ultimately yield in radish. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of integrated nutrient like inorganic (NPK @ 80:60:60 kg/ha), organic (FYM@ 20tones/ha) and biofertilizers (Azotobacter, 5kg/ha) + phosphate solubilizing bacteria, (5kg/ha) may be adopted for commercial utilization of radish thus T5 (NPK + FYM + PSB @ 80:60:60 kg/ha + 10 t/ha +5 kg/ha) proved to best treatment and it is therefore recommended to formers under Etawah condition of U.P.
