Abstract

The project consists of an aluminium 46 footer round the world cruising yacht. \nThe key points around which all the design is focalized are Safety and Ecology. The project will follow a linear outline that reflects the stages of the design process. \nStarting with the boat philosophy and some preliminary considerations, through a parametric study, the hull basic data and the consequent general arrangement is then \ngenerated. \nA risk analysis is done during the process to enlighten the principal causes of accidents occurring in recreational crafts. Being an aluminium boat, electrolysis is a serious problem and needs to be taken in consideration. \nThen an explanation of the sail plan arrangement and appendages design will conduct to the results of the VPP software. \nThe structures of the hull, mast, and keel are explained relatively to the attached drawings. \nFinally a stability study of the finished boat is made and explained through the weight estimation and the use of Hydromax software.
