Effect of low temperature on seed germination and seedling growth in wheat.

Abstract

Taking 3 wheat varieties as materals,the characteristics of germination and morphological index of seedling were determined.The ratio of the measured value of traits at room temperature(18 ℃)and low temperature(4 ℃)was taken as the evaluation index of low temperature tolerance to evaluate the low temperature tolerance of wheat seedling.The results showed that the low temperature decreased the germination speed and hindered the seedling growth.The seedling had stronger sensitive to the low temperature than that of the root.The ratio of dry weight and fresh weight at low temperatre was more than that at room temperature.The relative value of traits in period of the seed germination and seedling could be taken as the evaluation index of the low temperature tolerance.
