Abstract
The intention of this project was to show how the use of modern information technology could improve information to passengers, bus drivers and traffic control officers about bus arrivals/departures. A preliminary study has been presented in a previous report. This report covers the field testings. The purpose of the field testing was to show a working system for positioning of long range bus traffic. The goal was to establish what demands the business should set for the information that is made available through the system, and how the system should be constructed. The experience from the field studies has been very positive. There is a need for a standardisation of input data in systems for positioning of long range bus traffic in the future, in order to make use of exiting databases as far as possible. Both before, during and after this project several people have pointed toward the need for a national central for information regarding all long-range bus traffic in the same way as currently exists for train and air traffic.
