Abstract
This paper has described the basis for decisions affecting the operational design of the Adelaide Guided Busway system. The factors discussed included busway stop location, busway stop operations, busway ramp and stop location, bus route network, evaluation criteria, CBD routing, design of busway stops, choice of guideway, maintenance and emergency provision, communications and busway fleet. The project has been implemented successfully in line with the recommended specifications, demonstrating the importance of the detailed planning process as described in this paper.
