Abstract
Field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 1993–94 and 1994–95 at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar to determine the efficacy of diclofop methyl applied alone or tank mixed with 2, 4-D. fluroxypyr, tribenuron and isoproturon on complex weed flora in wheat. Field was dominated by natural infestation of wild oat (Avena ludoviciana Dur.). Isoproturon applied alone 750 g/ha did not control wild oat, while diclofopmethyl applied alone 1000 g/ha was not effective against lambsquarter (Chenopodium album Linn.). Tank mixtures of herbicides were less effective than sequential treatments of broad leaved herbicides with diclofopmethyl in reducing the population and dry weight of grassy and broad leaved weeds. In the presence of lambsquarter, tribenuron 7.5 g/ha or 2, 4-D 250 g/ha used as tank mixture or follow up treatments proved more useful than fluroxypyr applied 200 g/ha. Presence of weeds for the entire crop season reduced the grain' yield of wheat by 59 per cent.
