Abstract

Phenotypic and genotypic co-efficient of variability, heritability and genetic advance were studied in 31 varieties of sweet papper for eight characters. High phenotypic & genotypic co-efficient of variation was recorded for fruit number & fruit yield, medium for fruit weight & low for all the other characters. Plant height, fruit number, fruit diameter and number of days taken to first picking showed high heritability. It was moderate for fruit weight and yield and low for number of branches. High genetic advance was found for yield and number of fruits per plant, medium for fruit weight, plant height, number of days taken to first picking and low for number of branches, length and diameter of fruit.
