Abstract

A strategy is outlined for the development of an environmental management policy for dealing with the hazardous waste problem, especially in developing countries. The strategy consists of three elements: education, industrial and economic policy, and hazardous waste treatment and disposal. After a definition of hazardous waste the problem is defined and possible solutions are formulated. The paper ends with a set of conclusions and recommendations.
