The impact of recent policy changes on the agricultural sector and public agricultural research in Kenya.

This chapter analyses how recent changes in Kenya's agricultural policies, which were spurred by the globalization process, have impacted on the agricultural sector and, in particular, on the agricultural research system. Three specific issues are examined: the policy changes in the late 1990s that have had an impact on the agricultural sector; the changes in Kenya's agricultural research system during those years; and future changes in the Kenyan national agricultural research system in view of the globalization of trade and research and of the domestic policy reforms.
