Research and application of finely chopped round bale silage in Japan.

The wrapped round bale silage for grasses has been developed and utilized for several decades overseas,but it is not available to bulky crops,due to difficulty of baling and wrapping.,Rolling and cutting or fixing bale packing are utilized to treat whole plant corn or corn stalk with low work efficiency in China in recent years.The present review introduces a new chopping bale system developed by Japanese researchers with discussion of the characteristics of baling,silage fermentation and utilization,disadvantages in present stage,and its perspectives for silage production.
