Phonetic Stylistic Devices Employed in Fictional Prose Stylistic Analysis Based on a Chosen Literary Piece

This article deals with phonetic stylistic devices and their use in fictional prose. We have decided to make a stylistic analysis focused on the discussed phenomenon and to apply it on a fictional prose written by Helen Fielding: Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The book was and still is popular (over two million copies were sold worldwide in 2006). The unity of the content and the form make the book received by critics and readers in a positive way. The author uses a great variety of phonetic stylistic devices that contribute to the quality of the literary piece and form an inseparable part of the authorˈs style. This study provides the most representative examples of phonetic stylistic devices that emphasize the character of the main protagonist and perceiving the whole literary piece as an outstanding literary work.
