Abstract

Digital phase angle standards have become an ordinary piece of equipment in metrology laboratories all over the world. The paper proposes an approach to the design of such a reference source, that differs in some points from the conventional one. The main reasons for investigating alternative techniques were simplicity of their practical design and the flexibility in sense of phase angle and frequency setting (very wide range and resolution obtained even with constant sampling frequency). Important precautions are described that have to be considered in order to make the performance of the system as good as possible.
