Simplicity is an important feature of a scientific theory.In this paper,the author explores many important issues and puts forward his views of the functions of simplicity.These issues include: implication and classification of simplicity;relationships among simplicity,economy,and scientific beauty;relationships between simplicity and truth;and whether there is ontology of simplicity.
