Abstract
Abstract Aliphatic thiones were found to react with trialkyl phosphites to give (alkylthio)- and/or mercapto-alkylphosphonic esters. The reaction is interpreted in terms of the carbophilic attack with trialkyl phosphites at the carbon atom of the thiocarbonyl group, and the subsequent migration mechanism via the betaine intermediate.
