Abstract
Signalling system No.7 (SS7) has been applied to conventional public switched telephone networks (PSTN), integrated services digital networks (ISDN), broadband-ISDN, advanced intelligent network (AIN), and mobile telephone systems. Though planning methodologies for the above service networks are well established methodologies for SS7 network planning are not widely publicized. We develop a structured procedure for planning the SS7 network, taking into consideration the different performance requirements of PSTN/ISDN.
