Abstract
The zooplankton structure in the littoral of two small lakes that were subjected to the effect of products of the vital activity of birds is described. In the area of birds’ nesting in the zooplankton of the larger lake, the abundance and biomass of copepods reliably increased and the abundance of rotifers decreased, whereas in the smaller lake, a tendency toward the dominant development of rotifers and cladocerans was found. It is suggested that the differences in the zooplankton structure in the littoral of both lakes are determined by the area and the number of nesting birds.
