Abstract

Multi-phase controlling can separate the traffic flow that pass through the plane intersection with time, eliminate or reduce the transportation conflict of intersection. The increase in the number of phase makes the signal cycle and loss time longer. It also increases the traffic delays in the plane intersection and aggravates the congestion during the rush hours. By set the changeable car-ways, increasing the utilization of the car-ways of intersection, the above-mentioned contradiction can be solved. For this purpose, besides adding the moving backward stop line of the changeable car-ways of the intersections, the setting and control methods of the traffic lights at the intersection must be improved and adjusted accordingly. At the same time, in reality, according to the geometric properties and the actual traffic flow of the plane intersection, more than one changeable car-way can be set to achieve the maximum utilization rate of car-ways in plane intersection.
