Abstract

The PER of a poor ~ice diet (PRO) increased only \nslightly by supplement9tion With lysine or threonine but \naddition of methionine increased the PER to a significant \nextent from 2.52 to 2.97. Addition of a mixture of lysine + \nmethionine, lysine +'threonine. and me thionine + threonine \nbrought, about highly slgnitlcantlncreases 1n the PER to \n3.22, 3.46 and 3.13 respectively. Addition of a mixture of \nthe above three limiting amino acids resulted in a further \nsignificant increase in the PER to 3.63. The results \nindicate that methionine is the most limj.ting amino acid in \npoor rice diet, followed by lysine and threonine
