Abstract

This paper deals with an ultrasonic linear motor using a radial (R, 1)-mode and a nonaxisymmetric ((1, 1))-mode of a piezoelectric ceramic annular plate. A new motor structure is presented; the motor thickness can meet the restriction of 5 mm, which is one of the practical requirements of a light load gearless linear motor. The stator vibrator with 10 mm in its diameter was used. Vibration characteristics of the stator, the motor structure and load characteristics are shown.
