Abstract

The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of the fresh leaves of Cinnamomum sulphuratum Nees (Lauraceae) growing wild in northeast India was investigated by GC and GC/MS. Eight components (98.01%) were identified, of which linalool alone accounted for 92.66% of the oil. Other components constituting over 1% of the oil were geraniol (2.2%) and citronellol (1.47%).
