Abstract

The method of studying the interference of identical particles has been used to determine the size of the region of emission of secondary pions produced in collisions of the light nuclei D, He, and C, with C and Ta nuclei at 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon. In the laboratory system the rms radii of the pion-emission region increases with increase of the mass number of the incident nucleus. In the center-of-mass system of the NN interaction the radius of the emission region is smaller than in the laboratory system.
