Abstract
The paper presents our experience with L-Tetramisole, a new anthelmintic, in 65 patients with ascariasis and in 57 patients with hookworm infection. In ascariasis, 150 mg. in a single dose gave complete clearance of egg-load in 100% of patients. In hookworm infection, 4 different dosage schedules were tried. Best results were obtained with 150 mg. 6-hourly for 4 doses; 100% egg-clearance was seen in 66·6% of patients. The anthelmintic activity of the drug was demonstrated by the recovery of roundworms and hookworms from the faeces. Administration of tetrachlorethylene subsequent to a course of L-Tetramisole resulted in further expulsion of worms and complete clearance of egg-load.
