Abstract
A high correlation exists between fecal blood loss and the number of hookworm ova per gram of feces. Because of prevailing diet patterns, iron deficiency anemia is likely to develop in adult males with 6,000 and in women and children with 2,000 or more eggs per gram. Red cell survival measured with Cr was corrected after iron treatment in the presence of heavy infections with Necator americanus.
