Abstract

Summary An attempt has been made to determine whether the bremsstrahlung from a 20 mev betatron is polarized. The experiment consists essentially of measuring the angular distribution, with respect to the plane of emission of the photons, of photo-protons produced in the photodisintegration of the deuteron. The distribution instead of being purely symmetrical, as would be expected for unpolarized bremsstrahlung, indicates some asymmetry.
