Abstract

Abstract— One‐polarizer‐type reflective LCDs have been developed for reflective color LCDs with high resolution and high luminance. However, in order to apply them to high‐quality monitor displays, their contrast ratio is not sufficiently high in terms of wavelength and viewing angle. In this paper, we discuss the design rule for liquid‐crystal layer and retardation films for one‐polarizer‐type reflective LCDs in order to achieve high quality, especially high contrast ratio, for monitor displays.
