The IUHPE and mental health promotion

Abstract
It goes without saying that mental health promotion aims not only to prevent mental health problems, but also to promote positive mental health. Accordingly, mental health promotion is a matter for all people, not just for those at risk of mental disorders. It follows that a broad-based approach to mental health promotion is required, including a combination of education programmes, health promoting public and private policies, and community development initiatives. All this is required, in addition to the specialised services and skills needed to prevent and treat mental health problems, as well as conduct research on mental health promotion.
