Abstract
With the application of the VR, more and more products are designed and manufactured globally in a distributed, collaborative and virtual environment. The development of Virtual Assembly Platform (VAP) based on PC is discussed in this paper. The virtual assembly simulation scenic framework is set up, and the Level of Detail technology is adopted to optimize the simulation scene. An example of product assembly and test is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the VAP system. The simulation platform can help shorten the design cycle, improve design quality and reduce the assembly cost.
