Abstract
Periodical short pulse trains were observed in the oscillation of the waveguide mode free electron laser, which could be explained as a self mode-lock oscillation of the free electron laser. The spectra of the spontaneous emission and the induced absorption were observed, which were in good agreement with theoretical calculations. The energy spread of the relativistic electron beam was measured using Thomson back scattering from a high power CO2, laser.
