Abstract

A 1.25 Gbit/s DC-coupled burst-mode receiver for gigabit passive optical networks (GPON) is presented. By the use of fast but accurate amplitude recovery circuitry with offset compensation, a receiver sensitivity of −30.2 dBm and a dynamic range of 20.2 dB were achieved at an avalanche gain of 6.
