Abstract
The electricity demand for supply system in develop countries nowadays rising significantly. According to the APEC Energy Demand and Supply Outlook - 5th Edition, the electricity demand for Malaysia is expected to increase significantly from 96.3 TW/h in 2009 to 206 TW/h in 2035. For better control of the electricity demand, Malaysia must aim to encourage efficient usage of energy through available initiatives. The intelligent solution to overcome this crisis is Demand Side Management (DSM) strategies such as maximum demand control, increasing the efficiency and etc. This paper implements a strategy of DSM measures by reducing energy demand. The research will focus on optimal utilization of available electricity during peak and off peak hours to maintain consumer loads indirectly by manipulate the supply resource. With reduction in consumer load during peak hours, there is an opportunity to improve the load curve and load factor along with saving in energy bill due to the lowering MD charges (penalties) during peak hours.
