Abstract Higher numbers of cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, and lower numbers of aphid predators occurred in cotton sprayed five times with thiodicarb (750 g ai/ha) than in unsprayed cotton. The final abundance of aphids was negatively correlated with the mean abundance of aphid predators, suggesting that the higher number of aphids in cotton sprayed with thiodicarb was caused by the suppression of predators.
