Abstract

Differences between cell densities in the growth vessel and in the effluent samples when planktonic Oscillatoria is cultivated in continuous cultures may be avoided by use of a simple all glass growth vessel as a chemostat. The device ensures long axenic cultivation and reproducible results with good mixing and no wall growth.
