Abstract
The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the rhizome of Curcuma amada (Zingiberaceae) was analyzed by GC/MS. Twenty-eight constituents were identified, of which ar-curcumene (28.1%), β-curcumene (11.2%), camphor (11.2%), curzerenone (7.1%) and 1,8-cineole (6.0%) were found as the major compounds. Out of 28 constituents, 11 are being reported for the first time.
