Abstract

The lead oxide‐lead sulfate and lead oxide‐lead selenate systems have been investigated using the room temperature x‐ray powder method. The two systems are very similar and the preparation and x‐ray powder patterns are given of lead sulfate PbSO 4 , lead monoxysulfate PbO · PbSO 4 , lead tetroxysulfate 4 PbO · PbSO 4 , lead selenate PbSeO 4 , lead monoxyselenate PbO · PbSeO 4 , and lead tetroxyselenate 4 PbO · PbSeO 4 . The lead oxyselenates are isomorphous with the corresponding lead oxysulfates and the pattern of lead monoxyselenate has been indexed on the basis of a monoclinic unit cell of dimensions, a = 13.94 A å , b = 5.78 A å , c = 7.25 A å , β = 115.9 ° .
