Inelastic scattering of 163- and 241-MeV positive pions by $^{\mathrm{nat}}\mathrm{Ca}$ has been studied with special attention paid to the giant-resonance region. Pronounced giant resonance structures are observed at both incident energies. The analysis indicates a strong excitation of the giant quadrupole resonance at 18.2 MeV ($\ensuremath{\Gamma}\ensuremath{\sim}3\ensuremath{-}3.5$ MeV).
